Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vasily Nebensja, described the atrocities as a “staged provocation”. It was a “disgusting provocation by the regime in Kiev,” he told a news conference in New York on Monday. The Russian military did not do what it was accused of, not committing atrocities against civilians in Ukraine, according to the allegation. “It’s not the case, it wasn’t the case and it never will be,” he said.

Will the UN ambassador be punished now?

During his all-out attack, Putin’s ambassador to the UN repeatedly used the word “war”, as “Focus” reports. In Russia, however, one can only speak of a “military special operation”. Those who fail to comply incur criminal penalties.

Selenski harshly criticizes the UN Security Council

Selensky accused the UN Security Council of failing in the Ukraine war. “Where is the Security Council?” asked Zelensky, who was connected by video, on Tuesday in front of the committee in New York. “It is evident that the world’s central institution for protecting peace cannot function effectively.

However, Security Council decisions are necessary for peace in Ukraine, Zelensky said. He therefore proposes three possible solutions: proof that reform or change is possible, the exclusion of Russia, which as a permanent member can block any decision, or the complete dissolution of the council.

Zelensky also called on the international community to hold Russia accountable for Bucha’s atrocities. Russian invading forces committed the worst war crimes since World War II there, as well as in other Ukrainian locations, he said. There is no difference between them and the terrorists of the Islamic State organization.
