“It is astonishing to see how Canada, a member of the anti-Hitler coalition, can openly and without hesitation glorify the Nazi butchers,” said a post by the embassy on the platform X (formerly Twitter).

The statement came after MP and Speaker of the House of Commons Anthony Rota paid tribute to a veteran who fought in a Nazi force during World War II.

Mr. Rota later apologized for the error after “receiving new information about it [le] people regret [sa] decision to have introduced this person”.

The text compares the phrase “Slava Ukraine” (Glory to Ukraine), a phrase notably proclaimed by Justin Trudeau, to the Nazi salute “Heil Hitler,” and qualifies this phrase as an “exact copy.”

“This is evidence of who is praising Mr. Trudeau and his Liberal team (since the Prime Minister refuses to apologize – that is the only conclusion),” the comment said.
