Russian fighter jets intercepted over Poland ZDFheute

A formation of three Russian military aircraft was intercepted by two Dutch F-35 fighter jets over Poland and escorted out of the area, according to the Dutch Defense Ministry.

“The planes, which were unknown at the time, were approaching Polish NATO territory from Kaliningrad,” said the ministry’s statement, translated by Portal.

“Upon identification, it turned out that there were three aircraft: a Russian IL-20M Coot-A escorted by two Su-27 flankers. The Dutch F-35s handed over the escort to NATO partners.”

Russia’s Defense Ministry did not immediately respond to a Portal request for comment. Kaliningrad is a Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea coast, squeezed between NATO and EU members Poland and Lithuania. NATO countries are worried since the Russian attack on Ukraine.
