Russian Foreign Minister Meets with Cuban Prime Minister

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, as well as Venezuela’s Executive Vice-President Delcy Rodríguez and Nicaragua’s Special Envoy for Russia (SPIEF) in parallel with the International Economic Forum from San Petersburg.

Foreign affairs spokeswoman María Zajárova said at her weekly press conference on Wednesday that Lavrov would also meet with Prime Minister of the Central African Republic Felix Molua.

During the forum, for which, according to Moscow, 4,200 journalists from 30 countries are accredited, a conference dedicated to relations between Russia and Latin America will be held this Thursday, the agency Efe emphasizes in its office. Rodríguez, Nicaraguan Finance Minister Iván Adolfo Acosta Montalván and Central American Parliament (Parlacen) President Daniel Ortega Reyes will attend.

The President of the Central Bank of Venezuela, Calixto Ortega, and together with Manuel Marrero, the Director General for Systems, Technologies and Development of the Central Bank of Cuba, Alberto Quiñones, also traveled to Saint Petersburg through the font, according to the forum’s quoted program.

SPIEF is an annual business event held in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg. This is its 25th edition and will last until Saturday.

Regarding Moscow’s relations with Latin American countries, the Nicaraguan National Assembly approved by 79 votes (out of 91) the entry of foreign military troops, ships and aircraft for humanitarian purposes, including the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, according to Sputnik.

Nicaragua President Daniel Ortega had already authorized the entry of troops from Russia, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and Cuba to participate in training and exchanges on humanitarian relief operations and missions of search, rescue and rescue in emergency situations or natural disasters, according to the decree published in the official newspaper La Gaceta, quoted by the Russian media.
