A land connection via Crimea and Odessa to Transnistria is said to be the goal of the Russian war of aggression. Russian Major General Rustam Minnekayev, deputy commander of the Central Military District troops, told state news agency Interfax. Control of southern Ukraine will open a “path to the breakaway region of Transnistria” for Russia, where the Russian-speaking population is oppressed, according to Moscow.
“The whole world against us”
“It feels like we’re fighting the whole world now,” says Minnekayev, just as it was during the “Great Patriotic War,” World War II, “when all of Europe and the whole world were against us.” It’s the same now. “They never liked Russia,” said the major general.
Russia’s technical superiority over the Ukrainian military on land, sea and air is obvious, says Minnekayev and denies losses among Russian troops. The “special operation” will be brought to its logical conclusion, the military assures us, and all established tasks will be accomplished. And then – according to Itar-Tass – he utters a word that is never officially used in Russia when it comes to the fighting in Ukraine: “We didn’t start this war, but we’re going to end it.” , said Minnekayev, whose country invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.
