Russian state television channel Rossiya 1, through its presenter Olga Skabeyeva, assured that World War III “has begun‘ after Ukrainian troops sank the Kremlin’s flagship, the Moskva.

Skabeyeva claimed during her presentation that the warship suffered a “fire,” adding that the violent escalation between the two forces is being called “certainly World War III.”

In the same way, The journalist stressed that Russia is definitely fighting against NATO. His statements would be consistent with press releases providing information from the Kremlin assuring that forces commanded by Vladimir Putin have captured military personnel from Atlantic Alliance countries who were collaborating in eastern Ukraine.

This last comment, attributed by Andrey Klimov, who serves as an official in the Upper House of the Russian Parliament, it could be a group of Polish militiamen who were eventually ambushed by the Russian army in eastern Ukraine.

The sinking of the Moskva would mean a setback for Russia

The Russian Defense Ministry on Wednesday admitted the sinking of the Moskva cruiser. The official version of the Kremlin points out that due to an ammunition accident on board it exploded and finally sank in a storm.

“During the towing of the Moskva ship to the port of destination, the ship lost stability due to damage to the hull caused by the fire after the ammunition explosion. The ship sank in rough seas,” the ministry said, quoted by the Russian state agency TASS.

Earlier, the Defense Ministry said the fire was contained and the Soviet-era ship would remain afloat, although badly damaged. He also noted that the cause of the “fire” was under investigation and that hundreds of crew members remained evacuated to other ships in the Black Sea, Infobae said.

However, the military spokesman for the Ukrainian city of Odessa, Sergey Bratchuk, emphasized that the ship was hit by a shell attack, adding that the Moscow River was damaged by “native Neptune cruise missiles”. The Ukrainian version was repeated by the governor of that region.

The Neptun anti-ship missile was recently developed by Ukraine and is based on a Soviet design. The launchers are on trucks parked near the shore. According to the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, these missiles would hit targets up to 170 miles away.
