A year has passed since the incident on the set rustif Alec Baldwin accidentally shot the DOP Halina Hutchins. A story that understandably compromised the film’s production and the actor’s image, which however does not fit and heralds legal action against the crew.
According to foreign sources, the actor intends to clear his name and — while waiting for the Santa Fe DA to decide how to handle the case (the announcement will arrive in a few days) — has launched a counterattack. Alec Baldwin sued crew members of the western film for supposedly negligence. The gunsmith is on target Hannah Gutiérrez-Reedthe deputy director David Hallthe person in charge of the props Sarah Zachry and Seth Kenneywho took care of resupplying guns and shots on the set.
The counter-report, prepared by Alec Baldwin’s attorney, reads: “This tragedy happened because real bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gunGutierrez-Reed didn’t properly check the shots or the gun, Halls didn’t carefully check the gun and instead announced it was safe before handing it to Baldwin, and Zachry didn’t share that Gutierrez-Reed had been reckless on the set and posed a risk to the safety of those around her ».
The lawsuit began with the intention of rehabilitating his name and likely obtaining compensation for the consequences of that accident: “Baldwin has lost many job opportunities and the profits that would have accrued – read the documents – For example, because of the accident on the set of Rust, he was expressly dismissed by many outlets and ignored for other possibilities, as a direct result of the negligence of the accused ». And again: “With this counterclaim Baldwin tries to clear his name and have held the accused accountable for their wrongdoing.”
