Rust, the ill-fated western starring Alec Baldwin and at the center of a court case over the death of on-set cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, will resume filming in the spring with a mix of new and old crew members. The Hollywood Reporter found out. And Baldwin is currently on board.
The film is scheduled to be completed, Entertainment Journal reports, despite a lawsuit charging Baldwin and crew gunsmith Hanna Gutierrez Reed with manslaughter in Hutchin’s death and multiple lawsuits filed by crew members against the production. Filming was halted in October 2021 when a bullet from a gun in Baldwin’s hand struck director Joel Souza, fatally wounding the cameraman.
Bianca Bline (Marcel the Shell With Shoes On) takes over Hutchins. Meanwhile, filming also begins on a documentary about Halyna, directed by Rachel Mason and with the full support of her widower, Matthew Hutchins, who will executive produce both films.
