Rwanda donates 90 million euros for reconstruction after floods

After the worst natural disaster in years, more than 9,000 people are homeless.

After heavy floods that killed more than 130 people, Rwanda provided around 90 million euros to repair the damage. The announcement was made by the Minister of Infrastructure, Ernest Nsabimana, on Saturday, in Kigali. More than 9,000 people have been left homeless since heavy rains hit the east African country.

In one of Rwanda’s worst natural disasters in years, around 50 schools and key infrastructure such as roads, bridges, water points and power grids were also destroyed. Floods have killed more than 170 people this week in the Democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa.
