SADR condemns Moroccan failure in attempt to break African consensus

Algiers, November 8 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) condemned today that Morocco has failed for the sixth time in its attempt to break the African consensus on associations.

He said such a claim by Morocco, which occupies territory in Western Sahara, was flatly rejected by the majority of AU states.

African countries and governments made it clear that holding this association conference without the presence of all member states of the regional organization would be unfair and a blatant contradiction to the founding principles of the African Union, the text states in detail.

Later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that it commends the countries and governments of the regional entity’s member states for their defense of the principles and decisions of the AU against those who seek to undermine or distort the interests, unity and dignity of Africa. , as the Kingdom of Morocco is trying to do.

In view of this situation, the SADR calls for serious consideration of the application of Article 23 of the Constitutive Act of the African Union, which provides for the imposition of sanctions against any State that does not comply with the decisions of the African Union Commission, the document says. . In its decisions, the SADR Chancellery also wished for a long life for a united, free, dignified, independent and sovereign Africa.

The President of the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic, Brahim Ghali, has stated several times that the main responsibility of the United Nations in the Western Sahara conflict is to exert the necessary pressure on Morocco to respect international legality.
