Saguenay: She flees on foot after a car theft

A 21-year-old woman who broke into a home to steal a vehicle was arrested after a brief escape on foot Wednesday night.

Police were alerted to the theft of a MINI Cooper car around 1:30 a.m. by residents of a residential building in Chicoutimi.

The thief would have first broken the mosquito net on her front door to enter her home and snatch the keys to the vehicle before driving away.

“About twenty minutes later, the vehicle was on Saguenay Boulevard, near the Rio Tinto factory, heading towards Jonquière,” explains Lieutenant François Carrier of the Saguenay Police Department (SPS).

The patrol officers quickly located the person in question, who parked the car and then fled on foot. She was quickly intercepted and taken into custody.

The 21-year-old woman is threatened with obstruction of the police, theft of a car and burglary, among other things.
