Home-Away star Sam Frost shares the special meaning behind her one-of-a-kind engagement ring and reveals why she won’t take her fiancé Jordie Hansen’s last name
Sam Frost announced her engagement to boyfriend, Survivor star Jordie Hansen, in July after just five months of dating.
And on Monday, the Home and Away actress, 33, revealed the inspiration behind her one-of-a-kind engagement ring.
Sam revealed on Instagram that the stone is an opal from Coober Pedy, the town in South Australia where Jordie proposed to her.

“It is an opal from Coober Pedy. I’m not a diamond person. I love gemstones and crystals and have always liked unique rings. So this is PERFECT, he did very well,” Sam wrote.
The former Home and Away star also revealed that their wedding will be “quite unique and intimate.”
“We haven’t started planning yet, but we know it’s going to be pretty low-key,” she said.
“We just want to celebrate our love with an intimate group of our favorite people… most likely next spring/summer.”

Sam also announced that she will not be changing her last name from Frost to Hansen.
“I have no intention of changing my last name. I told Jord that on our first date to deal with expectations. He didn’t bat an eyelid and replied, “That’s fair enough, why would you change your name.”
Sam continued: “I love what people are doing, it’s a beautiful commitment. But I always felt uncomfortable doing it. It’s my identity, it’s my family and I feel deeply connected to my last name.”

Sam also revealed that she won’t be changing her last name from Frost to Hansen because she’s “uncomfortable” about it
Jordie proposed to the Bachelorette beauty in May during a road trip from the Northern Territory to South Australia.
Sam met her fiancé through her younger brother, Alex Frost, who starred opposite Jordie in Australian Survivor.
She debuted their relationship on Instagram in April when the couple took a trip up the New South Wales coast.
