Sam Smith apologizes for canceling her performance after four songs

Sam Smith has issued a sincere apology to fans after he suddenly canceled his concert at the AO Arena in Manchester after just a few songs on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old singer issued a statement shortly after leaving the stage, insisting he couldn’t continue after noticing that there was “something really wrong” with her voice.

Fans took to social media as they exited the venue after the crowd was briefly plunged into darkness and the performance was abruptly cut short after Sam sang her 2017 song ‘Too Good’ at Goodbyes.

It was confirmed at the Tannoy that Sam would not be returning to the stage due to “vocal issues” as Sam had previously canceled a number of shows after falling ill with a mysterious illness.

The giant gold figure was seen dimly lit at the back of the stage before it was announced that Sam would not be continuing the performance, disappointing fans who had traveled from as far away as China.

Earlier in the day, Sam announced a new collaboration with Madonna in a short clip on Instagram, with the star insisting they wouldn’t end Wednesday’s show with the usual performance of their hit song “Unholy,” but hinting that they would like the new one titles would be published for the first time.

However, the performance didn’t last long enough for Sam to perform the expected 21 songs that night, as the star reportedly disappeared after her track Too Good at Goodbyes.

After leaving the arena, one person wrote on Twitter: “No I can’t believe the people behind us traveled all the way from China to see Sam Smith and he canceled 4 songs. That has got to be the most brutal thing that’s ever happened.’

While another shared: “Really odd night at Sam Smith’s show in Manchester.” Brilliant vocals and great energy for a handful of songs, promise of an exclusive new song at the end. After a few songs, the stage goes black before the hall lights come on and the show is cancelled.’

Another person posted: “Sam Smith’s concert started out INCREDIBLE like banger after bang and then it all stopped and it ended up being cancelled. I’m so damn sad.”

And another music lover wrote: “Absolutely disappointed that Sam Smith has canceled. But we still had such a good night and they sounded AMAZING in what they sang!!”

“I hope it gets postponed.” It’s not the artist’s fault if there are health issues, but the time, money, and planning some fans put into being able to go or travel to one of these shows is extraordinary . “Of course that would happen to poor Sam in the UK!!!” shared another.

While another fan wrote, “Too Good at Goodbyes was the last song and they jumped off the stage and never revisited the irony,” adding, “‘Unholy’ won’t be the last song tonight.” I mean, they weren’t kidding, but only because they performed… 4 songs.’

“Well Sam Smith really is way too good at goodbyes, he broke up after four songs!” “Wtf,” joked another.

While another shared, “Maybe I’ve been thinking about this too much… but I hope it came out as clearly as technical issues or Sam being unwell or something and not something more serious that’s being kept from the public for security reasons….” @samsmith … either way; I hope all are doing well!’

Web has reached out to a representative of Sam for comment.

Just hours before he took the stage, a teaser clip hinting at a collaboration with Madonna was posted on Sam’s Instagram page.

A short video started with a black screen before Sam’s voice was heard saying, “Sam and…”

Then Madonna’s voice was heard whispering as she said her name.

As they spoke them, their words would appear on the screen in bold white type.

Sam didn’t post a caption for the clip, and no other details of their work together were given.

Pop star Sam recently had to cancel a string of shows after falling ill with a mysterious illness.

They canceled two performances last month after being struck by the disease.

Sam used her Instagram Stories at the time to let fans know they couldn’t perform at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham as they weren’t feeling well enough and pushed the show back to this month.

Just days earlier, Sam had canceled his gig at the OVO Hydro Arena in the Scottish city of Glasgow.

Sam announced: “Segler, I am so sorry to report that my team and I are still not doing well. As a result, we unfortunately have to reschedule our show in Birmingham to May 27, 2023.”

“It’s so important to me that we bring you the very best version of Gloria.” I don’t want you to experience it under lesser conditions.

“Thank you for your understanding. I know how excited everyone is to see the show and I feel the same way when I see you all.”

“All previous tickets remain valid for the new date.” For more information, visit my website at www.samsmithworld.com. Love, Sam X.’

Ahead of the Glasgow performance, Sam explained that she and her team felt “really uncomfortable”.

Sam wrote on Instagram: “Segler I’m so sorry to say this but we have to reschedule the Glasgow show to 25th May 2023.”

“Me and a lot of my team got infected with a virus, it made us really sick.”

“I want to give you the best version of Gloria the Tour, but right now that’s not possible.”

“It was also very important to me that we immediately had another appointment to which we could postpone the whole thing.”

“We will celebrate Gloria together!!” All previous tickets remain valid for the new date. Visit my website at www.samsmithworld.com for more information. Love, Sam.’
