Samsung announces the next Galaxy models updated to Android 14 (One UI 6) – Les Numériques

Samsung has subtly corrected the list of devices that – at least among the first – should receive One UI 6 with Android 14. Devices before the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and A53/33 no longer appear there, so the original mention of the Galaxy S20 and Note 20 was a mistake. We have corrected the following list accordingly.

It didn’t take long for Samsung to show that it wanted to offer its customers software updates as quickly as possible. After rolling out Android 14 (with One UI 6) on the Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra earlier this week, the manufacturer has released the list of next models that will benefit from the update.

The Samsung Galaxy, which will test Android 14 (One UI 6).

Samsung has been proving its seriousness when it comes to updating for many years. This includes monthly security patches for Galaxy smartphones, but also the rapid availability of important Android updates and, above all, a generous update policy. It is worth remembering that since the beginning of 2022, Samsung has been supporting the vast majority of its terminals with the following promise: four years of operating system updates and five years of security patches.

The manufacturer has just discreetly communicated the list of the first models that will be eligible for the Android 14 update in a blog post. In detail, the South Korean company discusses the models that benefit from the latest new features of the “Enhance Photo Editing Application, included” in the One UI 6 update.

This is how we discover more than fifteen compatible Galaxy smartphones via a small asterisk:

This list of models is of course not complete. Other Samsung Galaxy devices are still eligible for one or more Android updates, such as the Galaxy S23 FE, A34 or even A14. It also raises questions since it includes the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 series, but also the Galaxy Z Flip 4G/5G or the Z Fold 2, all of which were launched on Android 10 and are eligible for three updates, so are destined to end their days under Android 13. It remains to be seen whether further development of these products will prevail in these models. We have contacted Samsung and are waiting for further details. In the meantime, all we have to note is that One UI 6 will be “available soon,” according to the manufacturer.
