The “Always On” Oled display is changing slightly on Samsung and especially on the new Galaxy Z Flip 5. We learned this week that the company has started rolling out an update to the Always On Display application for its eligible devices, allowing for a (small) dose of additional customization, but also and most importantly improving certain functionalities around the external screen of the Z Flip 5.
According to the release notes for this new update (version 8.3.30.4), Samsung has fixed a bug that caused the watch style to change when roaming, regardless of the always-on display mode selected. We also note that this update optimizes memory usage when performing certain actions on the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s cover screen. This should increase fluidity and the device would also “waste” less energy in standby mode … which would result in a slightly improved battery life.
A discreet but important update
As indicated by the specialized site SamMobile, Samsung has also provided a small update (2.2.04.66) of its Good Lock personalization application, which initially allows some bugs to be fixed, without giving any further details.
In both cases (the Always On Display application and Good Lock), these updates are accessible through the Galaxy Store. They also seem to be already available for the majority of users.

As a reminder, the always-on display fixes are important in the case of the Z Flip 5. The device, in fact, has an external 3.4-inch OLED screen, which is undoubtedly the main novelty of this new model. The latter is used in particular for widgets and notifications, but it also allows you to enter messages or even use certain applications (WhatsApp, Google Maps, the camera, etc.) without having to open the smartphone to access the main screen. .
