Samuel Girard opens his account with a win

Defenseman Samuel Girard scored his first goal of the season in the Colorado Avalanche’s commanding 8-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday night at Ball Arena.

The Quebecer was the one who opened the bypass in the first third. After a good attempt by Tomas Tatar to keep the puck in the opponent’s court, Girard headed towards the net and used a rebound to put the valuable object into the net.

The Roberval native was also an accomplice in the success of Joel Kiviranta. Other Avs scorers included Valeri Nichushkin (twice), Devon Toews, Andrew Cogliano, Ross Colton and Frederik Olofsson. Cale Makar collected three assists.

Only five Avalanche skaters failed to score at least one point in this duel, including striker Jonathan Drouin.

Sam Carrick and Max Jones scored for the Ducks.
