Sandy and Junior notify Ecad about recording music without the duo’s consent

The manager of Sandy and Junior Lima’s phonographic works today filed a complaint against Abramus (Brazilian Association of Music and Arts) and Ecad (Central Agency for Collection and Distribution) for a recording of a phonogram identifying the singers as performers from March 6th to 11th August , 2022.

According to the singer’s press office, no recording was registered by her office under the title “Pra Ter o Seu Amor”. The record was spotted by fans of the duo, who began speculating about a new partnership between the brothers. If the song were released, it would be the duo’s first unreleased song in 16 years.

The registration would have been done in the Ecad system without the knowledge of Sandy, Junior or their career managers. In the communication, the brothers ask for the immediate withdrawal of this registration.

syringes sought out Ecad, which claimed that registration was the responsibility of music associations, in Sandy’s case Abramus (also notified).

“Ecad is not responsible for the registration of musical works, since it is not responsible for any type of registration, which is the responsibility of the seven musical associations that manage Ecad and form a collective administration in Brazil.”

The institution also claimed that any of the song’s titleholders could register. “Composers, musicians, performers, publishers and phonogram producers join the associations and register their songs with them, which become part of the collective management database managed by Ecad. Register in your association.”

Today at 18:13 the vinyl was still on the official Ecad website (see image below).

After the case was made public, Sandy’s publicist also issued an official note on the case. Read in full:

“Regarding the article published today, the press office of the singer Sandy reiterates that neither a phonogram was recorded by her office under the title “Pra Ter o Seu Amor” nor an unreleased song in collaboration with her brother Junior Lima. for all records of phonographic works by Sandy and Junior Lima, he has already notified Abramus (the entity responsible for Ecad’s recording of both artists) and Ecad itself, asking for the immediate withdrawal of that recording and for an investigation into the incident.”
