This is a Milanese trio whose lyrics were deemed “violent and vulgar towards women” by Codacons, which is why they requested their exclusion from the Sanremo 2024 Bigs competition. “A country moved by Giulia Cecchettin cannot applaud songs that are offensive to women and characterized by a constant glorification of violence and misogyny,” declared the association on the evening of last Thursday, December 7th. The lines referenced vary, for example: “But you're worse than coke, you're shit, and I'm just fucking you to rip your heart out”.

After days of silence on the matter, Amadeus spoke out with a video on his Instagram profile. “Hello everyone,” the artistic director began, “I looked in the dictionary for the word prejudice: a preconceived opinion that can lead people to adopt an unjustified attitude,” explains the moderator. The reference is clearly to the controversy raised by Codacons. “That’s why I don’t like people who are prejudiced. First you listen to the song, watch the movie and then you judge. After, not before. It is wrong to be prejudiced,” he concluded. So Amadeus is not there and would rather have his say, even if it goes against the grain. The host invited the audience of the singing event to first give the trio the opportunity to perform the song in the competition in Sanremo and then to get an idea.
