Ford-Wilcox said she was willing to pay money to get the dog back, describing her dog as “about 40 pounds” with a “stubby tail and a floppy ear,” perhaps mixed in with “some Golden” Retriever.

The American Horror Story star shared a shot of the missing dog with the caption, “This is Winnie. Please keep an eye out for her. Last Confirmed Location 535 North Hobart Blvd. Please share. @clementineford just wants her dog back. No questions asked.’

The Emmy winner also posted a picture of Ford-Wilcox with the message, “More Winnie. We just want her back. No questions asked.’

Ford-Wilcox, daughter of actress Cybill Shepherd, explained the situation at length in a tearful Instagram Stories post, according to People.

“We boarded our dog via Rover with this woman who had done an extended background check and she disappeared with our dog,” Ford-Wilcox said. ‘She’s on radio silence.

“If you could please go to my main page and just share and share and share and maybe we can get them back. The children are devastated. Obviously I’m devastated. Especially for someone who has what I have, she was really important to keep me regulated and not anxious. Please help us.’

Ford-Wilcox said she dropped off her dog, who she adopted late last year, with the dog sitter “and her boyfriend at an apartment on Saturday morning” before leaving for a family wedding.

She continued, “We were in Palm Desert when we asked for photos or a video or something [Saturday] 6 PM that morning When she still hadn’t responded to several messages in the morning, we turned around and got back to LA, to the place where we dropped Winnie off at their place.

Ford-Wilcox said the unit was “empty,” with “not a box, not a dog, not a human, nothing.”

Ford-Wilcox said she nervously contacted police “because it was the only way to get into the home” to learn the dog sitter’s last name.

A Rover spokesman told People in a statement Monday that the incident was being investigated.

“As pet parents, we feel terrible at the pain this situation has caused and we join with Winnie’s family in hoping for her speedy and safe return home,” the spokesman said.

The Rover spokesman detailed the company’s efforts to relocate Winnie and reunite the dog with its owner.

“Our 24/7 Trust and Safety team took immediate action when we learned she was missing, including a $500 reward, paying for flyers and posting the notifications on online pet search websites send to local animal shelters and veterinarians,” the company said. “Our team is also conducting a thorough investigation and we have suspended the sitter’s account while the search continues.

“We have also fully reimbursed Winnie’s family and are in active communication with them as we work to offer support and get Winnie home.”
