Federal police conducted a search and seizure at the home of former head of the President of the Republic’s Office of Historical Documentation, Marcelo da Silva Vieira, who has been appointed as a “key figure” in the case of allegedly presenting millionaire jewels from the Saudi Arabian dictatorship to the former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL). Marcelo’s cellphone was collected during the operation. The information comes from Jornal da Band.
Vieira signed a document in November 2022 to attempt unsuccessfully to have the jewels declassified with the Federal Revenue Service. He said in a statement that he received a call from Mauro Cid, Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) assistant at the time, using the speakerphone on his mobile phone, asking the former president to attend as well. Marcelo Vieira said that once again Mauro Cid wanted to help release the gems. After the call, Cid sent the draft letter to Vieira via WhatsApp.
The federal police assume that the former head of the Office for Historical Documentation may have hidden information. The investigators compared the data collected through violations of telephone secrecy with the information he provided and found differences to the statements of the witnesses.
