Montreal police are looking for six suspects who allegedly tried to defraud seniors by posing as bank representatives in Lachine, LaSalle and Verdun.
The six suspects, two women and four men, are said to have repeated their scheme over the past few months and committed dozens of scams.
In particular, the latter used an application that allowed them to display the name of a banking institution on their victim’s phone during their call.
Then, alleging fraud on the victim’s account, the fake representative asked the victim to put his card with the PIN in an envelope for a postman to come and pick it up.
“In an emphatic tone, the fake representative tells the victim that urgent action is needed to rectify the situation. […] A uniformed accomplice then takes over and quickly shows up at the victim’s home to retrieve and clear out the envelope,” the Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) continued in a press release.
With cards in hand, the fraudsters would then have withdrawn amounts from ATMs and bought prepaid cards in various shops.
The police are therefore asking the public for help in finding these six people. Rewards of up to $3,000 may be awarded by Info-Crime Montreal for information leading to the arrest of suspects.

#2- Caucasian female, about 25 years old, with dark hair. She wore a black winter coat with a fur hood, black trousers and ankle boots and a Burberry-style scarf.
#3- White male, shaved head, around 35 years old. He wore sunglasses, a coat and black gloves. He was wearing gray pants and dark shoes.
#4- White male, around 20 years old. He was wearing a light beige hood, a brown and black down coat, black trousers and dark shoes.
#5- Black woman, about 25 years old, with long black wavy hair. She wore a black baggy coat, light colored ribbed leggings and dark shoes.
#6- Caucasian male, about 25 years old, wearing a black hat, dark coat with a white hood, dark trousers and shoes.
