Horrific scenes took place at a football tournament in Sarajevo: fans chanted murderous chants and one person was even injured with a knife.
A huge children’s football tournament with hundreds of participating teams took place in the Bosnian capital over the weekend. Clubs from Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia were right in the middle instead of just there. But in the children’s tournament, the sport was suddenly in last place, because: while a Croatian was playing against a Serbian club, the children in the stands were chanting “Kill the Serbs”.

As a result, according to local media, there were several escalations: During the night, strangers broke into a hotel where a large number of the 400 participating teams were stationed. Parents of Serbian children were even attacked during the masked rage action.
Knife attack in hotel – family man slightly injured
A total of 10-15 masked people broke into the hotel lobby. A Serbian family accompanying their children was attacked because they were carrying a Serbian flag. The attackers left nothing to chance during the attack: “We didn’t want to provoke anyone with this. Suddenly, a group came in, attacked us with tear gas and wanted to take the flag,” one of the parents told local media.
Tensions Rise in the Balkans
During an argument, one of the parents was even injured with a knife – fortunately the father of the family escaped with minor injuries. The giant tournament continued on Sunday despite all the circumstances. Sarajevo authorities arrested a total of ten people during the crimes.
