This comes after the actress admitted earlier this year that she almost gave up acting after missing out on a dream role that went to Sandra Bullock.
In a candid new interview, Scarelett spoke about battling feelings of inadequacy after being turned down for key roles she auditioned for.
And after initially losing the role of Black Widow, which was originally offered to Emily Blunt, Scarlett opened up about how she felt “hopeless” after being rejected for a role in Gravity.

That role went to Sandra Bullock, 58, who starred opposite George Clooney, 62, in the 2013 sci-fi film and earned her Academy Awards, Golden Globes and BAFTA nominations for Best Actress.
Scarlett said that rejection was “kind of the straw that broke the camel’s back” as it made her reconsider her future in the film industry.
She told Variety, “I was turned down for two roles – the first was Iron Man 2 and the other was Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity, I wanted that role so badly.” It was the straw that broke the camel’s back, so to speak brought. I felt really frustrated and hopeless. For example: “Am I doing the right job?”
Meanwhile, the actress continued to question whether the roles she was actually offered were “fulfilling” after her success in breakout film Lost In Translation made her a bombshell, with Scarlett declaring it was “hard” to come off break out of that ‘pigeonhole’ and change the narrative.
When asked if she would advance professionally, she added, “The work that I was offered felt deeply unfulfilling.” I think I’ve been offered every Marilyn Monroe screenplay of all time. I asked myself, “Is this the end of the road creatively?”
However, Scarlett’s fate soon turned when Emily Blunt was forced to withdraw from Iron Man 2 due to contractual obligations with Fox and she was offered the role in the Marvel film again.
While her role in the film wasn’t huge, it paved the way for other opportunities for the star.
She said, “This film wouldn’t significantly advance the way my character was written, but there was potential for what it could be — potential for growth in subsequent films.”
