Schallenberg speaks at the UN General Assembly

Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) will give a speech to the UN General Assembly on Thursday. The speech at the general debate at the United Nations headquarters in New York is scheduled for the evening. Speeches by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, EU Council President Charles Michel, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna are also scheduled for Thursday.

According to the agenda, Schallenberg will also hold bilateral talks with his counterparts from Israel (Eli Cohen) and Laos (Saleumxay Kommasith). As part of the “High Level Week” in New York, Schallenberg had already spoken of a “test of resistance to multilateralism” in view of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and challenges such as climate change.
