How do the scholarships work?

Scholarships are aimed at foreigners who want to improve their careers at a Japanese university, i.e. they apply to bachelor’s, specialist, master’s or doctoral programs everything in the university sector.

The course starts in April 2023 and best of all: scholarships are 100% fully booked. They already include the payment of plane tickets, school fees and help in maintaining residence. Students receive monthly amounts depending on their education. It will be 143,000 yen for undergraduate students, 144,000 for technical and masters students, and 145,000 for graduate students. In reais, these values ​​have an equivalent between 5,600 and 5,800 reais.

The duration of the scholarships is 5 years, i.e. between April 2023 and April 2028. However, the duration of courses in the health sector is longer: it runs until April 2030, i.e. seven years.

How do I apply?

Registration for the postgraduate course is now possible and ends on May 31st. Registration for scholarships for elementary, technical and vocational schools starts on June 1st and ends on the 24th of the same month.

Registration takes place directly at the Japanese embassy based in Brasilia by email [email protected]. With the application email, students receive online information on the process steps and the documents to be submitted.

The three phases are exclusive and include a document analysis, an interview and a written test. The latter two are facetoface at the embassy itself. According to the institution, more than 200,000 students from around the world have studied in Japan over the past two decades.
