REUTTE. A school bus was hit by a train this morning in the Reutte area of the Austrian Tyrol. The driver and two children were seriously injured, the driver was unharmed.
At around 7.15 a.m., the Ausserfernbahn freight train collided with the bus in Pflach, which was crossing the barrier-free siding passage.
The bus was thrown into the ditch and the freight train only came to a halt after a few tens of meters despite emergency braking.
The injured were hospitalized. The police are reconstructing the accident, they have to clarify why the bus crossed the tracks while the train was on its way.
