Scottie Pippen has discredited Michael Jordan’s standing in the NBA, calling him a “terrible player” prior to the Jordan-Pippen era that produced six championships for the Chicago Bulls franchise.
A clip of Pippen slurring his former friend and teammate went viral Friday as the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer debated LeBron James.
The Lakers star turned heads this week after he said unprompted he was considering retiring after being defeated by Denver in the Western Conference Finals.
“LeBron is going to be the greatest statistical guy to ever play basketball,” Pippen said. “And there’s no comparison to him, none!”
However, Pippen refrained from saying that 38-year-old James was the GOAT

The once-impressive couple’s relationship has been strained by events over the years
“So is this the best player that has ever played this game?” I’ll leave that up for discussion.
“I don’t think there is a great player because our game is a team game and a single player can’t do it.”
This led to Jordan’s name being mentioned. Both Pippen and Jordan were part of the most successful period in Bulls history, playing alongside each other between 1987–93 and 1995–98.
“I watched Michael Jordan play before I came to the Bulls,” Pippen added.
“You saw him play, he was a terrible player.” He was terrible to play with, he only played one on one, he shoots badly. “All of a sudden we became a team and we started winning, everyone forgot who they were.”
The pair won the NBA championship between 1991-93 and 1996-98 when the Bulls stringed together two famous three goals.
James has now won four titles over the course of his career.
It’s not the first time Pippen has criticized MJ. In his memoir Unguarded, Pippen said he was “nothing more than a prop” in Jordan’s The Last Dance documentaries. He added the NBA legend “couldn’t have been more condescending if he’d tried.”
Jordan’s son Marcus is now dating Pippen’s ex-wife and Real Housewives of Miami star Larsa

What makes the Jordan-Pippen feud all the more intriguing is that MJ’s son Marcus has been dating Pippen’s ex-wife Larsa for some time.
Jordan Jr. has been dating the Real Housewives of Miami star since the last months of 2022.
Larsa said in a recent interview with Tamron Hall that she’s spent “a lot of time” with Jordan and Marcus’ mother, Juanita, who is “okay” with the romance.
Scottie and Larsa were married for 14 years before splitting in 2021.
