The 26-year-old singer-songwriter announced last year that he has Tourette syndrome, a neurological disorder characterized by motor and vocal tics.
In Glastonbury, where he performed to thousands of festival-goers last Saturday, he was convulsing and gradually losing his voice. He had called the viewers for help and apologized profusely.
“I just want you all to sing along as loud as you can,” he said.
Thousands of enthusiastic spectators supported him and sang his flagship song “Someone You Loved” for him, which ended his concert on a very strong moment.

“I will be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future,” he wrote on Instagram Tuesday. “The truth is I’m still learning to adapt to the effects of Tourette.”
Before Glastonbury he had already taken a three-week break.
“On Saturday it became clear that in order to continue doing what I love, I need to spend a lot more time taking care of my mental and physical health,” he added, thanking his family, friends, his team and the doctors who follow him and once again apologize to his fans.
“I’ll be back as soon as possible,” he added.
Lewis Capaldi was scheduled to perform in Zurich on June 28th, then in Australia and New Zealand, in July in Singapore and Seoul and in August and September a series of concerts in the UK and Europe. Most were full.
Her debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extend was released in May 2019. Her second album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent was released in May.
Someone You Loved topped the UK chart and then the US chart in 2019.
