Scout Willis is grateful for the “outpouring of love” she and her family have received since announcing her father Bruce Willis’ diagnosis of aphasia.
“I’m just blown away by the exquisite outpouring of love I’m experiencing,” the 30-year-old Scout wrote on her Instagram Story on Wednesday, captioning a hilarious photo of the 67-year-old Die Hard star in a headscarf.
“Thank you all for showing up with such tenderness and breathtaking love for my dad and all my family!”
Bruce’s family announced in a statement released on social media on Wednesday that the legendary actor was “retiring from the decades-long career that has meant so much to him.”
Aphasia is a condition that, according to the Mayo Clinic, can affect a person’s ability to speak, write, and understand language, both verbal and written. It typically occurs after a stroke or head injury.
Following the heartbreaking announcement, sources exclusively told Page Six that the ‘Whole Nine Yards’ star was having issues on film sets.
“He had cognitive problems; They all knew Bruce was struggling,” a source tells us. “Everyone knew it, the cast and the crew. His family has stepped in; They moved in to take care of him.”

The source added that Bruce was “using earphones, hearing things so they would give him the leads” and “it was getting harder and harder to have him on screen.”
Our insider explained that the films are being shot closer to where the Pulp Fiction star lives to simplify production. But, according to the source, “it became very apparent that he was struggling … he couldn’t act anymore.”
The Golden Globe winner still has several projects in the making or in post-production, including Vendetta, Fortress: Sniper’s Eye and White Elephant, and Fortress 3 in pre-production.
