Seattle’s offense has gone 20 drives without a touchdown dating back to the first quarter of Week 11, the longest active streak in the NFL.
The score sparked criticism of offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, but Smith dismissed questions about the playmaker after another dismal performance.
“I feel like Shane always does a great job and I’m behind him 110 percent,” Smith said. “He knows that. I feel like what matters is that we perform better as players. No matter what the game is called, what matters is that players bring it to life. So Shane has called some great games for us and he’s coming along. “We’ve got to keep doing that. I just think overall we have to stay confident, we have to continue to believe in what we’re doing, continue to believe in and trust our process and Shane is going to continue to make great plays and we just have to execute on him.”
The Seahawks lost their fourth straight to San Francisco by a score of 120-56.
Thursday’s loss dropped the Seahawks to 6-5, jeopardizing their playoff berth during a difficult stretch. Seattle faces Dallas in Week 13, followed by a rematch with San Francisco and a visit from the Philadelphia Eagles.
“We have another chance to play these guys in a few weeks and I think everyone has to take that personally,” Smith said. “I know that. We all have to take it personally. We can’t keep coming out here and letting them beat us like that.”
