By targeting Déferlantes Olivier Dion and Geneviève Schmidt as host and narrator, respectively, of the love reality show, TVA, Quebecor Content and Productions blew a breath of fresh air as this marks the first time among all editions of “Love Island” on the whole world that a man is in charge and a woman is commenting colorfully on the episodes.

Content producer Mathew McKinnon promised in an interview with QMI Agency that more new features will surprise viewers for the first of 28 episodes starting on Easter Monday.
The interior of the majestic villa in Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic has been changed here and there. “The main entrance where Olivier and the islanders will arrive has completely changed. It’s a big heart, giant format, placed by the artistic director Antoine Laurier. We also changed the color around the “fire pit” where the flame ceremonies take place. We put on some greenery.”
Also, since the islanders lacked space in their shared bedroom, their resting place was moved to a larger room with large windows. And the famous girls make-up room has been redesigned in the old bedroom. “The girls needed more space!”
The boys will also arrive at the villa first to chat with the host. Then the girls get off one by one. The selection of couples takes place after sundown to “bring presence and prestige” to the first episode.
Appetizers… in Olivier’s slow motion
Curious ones should know that like Naadei Lyonnais, who piloted the first two seasons, the host will be making equally theatrical entries every time he shows up at the villa. “Olivier doesn’t come out of slow motion! (laughs) He will bring his own touch and he also wants to show that he cares about fashion. He prepared his clothes carefully,” said Mathew McKinnon.
Filming began on April 3rd. Olivier Dion spent the past week rehearsing. We even shot a never-to-be-seen pilot to set it all in motion, directed by Brian Desgagné (“Chefs de bois”), the new director.
Each week, the shooting extends over four days, each 16 hours at a time. With 64 hours of material in the bank to produce four episodes of 44 minutes each, it is of course necessary to choose which stories are told.
More often on screen
As he wished, Olivier Dion will be more present in the episodes than in the animation that preceded him. “We’ve been working with the creative team to find times when Olivier will be on screen more often. Having said that, we will not bring Olivier to the villa if there are no changes. Every time you see the host, there must be something going on.”
Villa Las Terrenas drew a lot of interest at the recent Love Island Exchange, hosted by format holder ITV Studios, having also been used for the Swedish version in recent weeks. .
“We have a relationship of trust with ITV and all eyes are on ‘The Island of Love’ because people at ITV and other producers around the world are excited to see the momentum we bring to it. before what it’s going to be like to have a man in the animation and a woman in the narrative,” said Mathew McKinnon.
The reality show “L’île de l’amour” will be broadcast on TVA from April 10, Monday to Thursday at 9 p.m. The episodes are also available on TVA+.
