Globo is preparing a new remake to be shown on Globoplay in 2025: rights to the story written by Walcyr Carrasco under the pseudonym Adamo Rangel, a codename that the author used because he was hired by SBT at the time.
Some production, characterization and scenography professionals have already been consulted to participate in the first remake produced for Globoplay. There is no survey about the cast yet, but behind the scenes the name of Taís Araujo who played the eponymous protagonist of the soap opera is circulating as a big wish of the broadcaster.
The character Xica da Silva, previously played in the cinema by Zezé Motta, was the first protagonist of Taís.
The idea is that the remake will be the biggest launch on the platform for 2025, to compete with Dona Beja, which will debut on HBO Max.
Searched by TV newsGlobo responded through its press office that it had “no predictions on this.”
This year Globoplay launches the second season of Justiça, and in 2024 it will be the turn of Guerreiros do Sol. So far, Erick Brêtas, director of Globoplay, is working on this programming.
The manager actually wanted to display the original by Xica da Silva on the platform, but made a reservation. “I would like to do that. Difficult to untangle the rights,” he commented on Twitter. When Globoplay announced the launch of the Mexican soap operas, Brêtas was asked about the storylines of the extinct Manchete, including the success with Taís Araujo in the lead role.
According to the website A TV Entre Nós, the rights to the works of TV Manchete belong to the company Bloch Som e Imagem from 1995, which includes Tocaia Grande (1995), Xica da Silva (1996), Mandacaru (1997) and Brida (1998) belong ).
The defunct station’s productions between 1985 and 1994 are part of its bankruptcy estate. In 2021, the tapes from this period were auctioned and purchased by an unknown person for around 500,000 reais.
The buyer bought the TV Manchete brand for R$200,000, as well as a number of soap operas such as Dona Beija (1985), Mania de Querer (1986), Novo Amor (1986), Carmem (1987) and Corpo Santo (1987). , Kananga do Japan” (1989) and Pantanal (1990) for R$240,000 and various programs for R$60,000.
Due to copyright, performance or image rights, the work cannot be broadcast and a remake is ultimately the easier solution.
