Education Minister Bernard Drainville announced on Thursday evening that on January 9 he would present a plan developed with various stakeholders in the school network.

“Several meetings during the holiday period, in the last few days and again today,” he mentioned in a statement on the social network school service centers, school principals, parent committees, unions, etc. »

“We are currently finalizing the plan,” Mr Drainville said.

The education sector was particularly affected by the days-long strikes that took place as part of negotiations between the Ministry of Finance and Quebec public service unions over the renewal of collective agreements.

Recall that the Autonomous Federation for Education (FAE), which represents about 66,500 primary and secondary school teachers, or 40% of teachers in the school network, waged an indefinite strike for about a month.

The FAE last week announced an end to all its pressure tactics, including the indefinite strike, after reaching an agreement in principle with the government.

The joint all-union front, which includes CSN, CSQ, APTS and FTQ, also resigned at different times in the fall, leading to the closure of schools.
