SEE: A former CH player involved in a goalkeeping fight

Remember Michael McNiven, that Montreal Canadiens youngster in front of the cage? The Manitoban made headlines on Sunday night after picking up a second career fight in the ECHL.

The 26-year-old athlete played a stint with the Habs on January 24, 2022, scoring three goals on just seven shots. He was subsequently traded to the Calgary Flames for future considerations.

McNiven now plays with the Savannah Ghost Pirates in the third largest club in North America and has not won in seven games.

The man best known for his five-year stint with the Laval Rocket had a little bit of fun competing with Cam Johnson. When there were only 2.7 seconds left in the third period, a scrum broke out and even the goalkeepers intervened.

However, the Winnipeg native did not have the upper hand in his battle with the American member of the Florida Everblades. Only a few shots hit the target and it was Johnson who finally knocked his opponent to the ground.

When he took the gloves off for the first time in the ECHL in 2019, McNiven faced a much more well-known goaltender. Vegas Golden Knights goalie Logan Thompson accepted his invitation to dance while playing for the South Carolina Stingrays.
