Sela Ward releases “Roll Tide!” after Alabama’s latest win

Actress Sela Ward, one of the University of Alabama’s most notable grads, sent her beloved Crimson Tide another big “Roll Tide” on Labor Day after the team’s season-opening win over Utah State in Tuscaloosa.

Bama beat the Aggies 55-0 at Bryant-Denny Stadium, prompting the Emmy winner to take to social media to wish everyone a Happy Labor Day and Roll Tide on Monday.

She tweeted, “Happy Labor Day and congratulations to my alma mater, @UofAlabama, on starting the football season with a big W!” #RollTide.”

While at UA, Ward was a Crimson Tide cheerleader and homecoming queen. Originally from Meridian, Miss., she studied art and advertising before successfully pursuing an acting career.

AL.com has rediscovered some unpublished photos from Ward’s cheerleading days circa 1976.

Ward has won two Emmys for her work on the NBC drama Sisters and the ABC series Once and Again. Other credits include the shows “House”, “CSI: NY” and “FBI” as well as the films “Nothing in Common”, “The Fugitive” and “Gone Girl”.

She also dropped a “Roll Tide” and blew a kiss in a video message ahead of Bama’s 2021 season opener against Miami, which the Tide won 44-13.
