Selena Gomez is set to give her fans a raw, emotional look at her struggles with depression, anxiety and lupus in a vulnerable new documentary that details her six-year battle with the disease.
While the 30-year-old singer has long been open about her mental health struggles and battle with the autoimmune disease lupus, she’s now preparing to take her personal life to the next level through a brand new “Raw and intimate” Apple TV+ documentary called My Mind & Me.
In the first preview for the candid movie, which aired Monday, the Bad Liar singer opened up about her mental health struggles and opened up about how she’s finally learned to love herself and embrace her flaws.

In the first preview for the film, titled My Mind & Me, the Bad Liar singer opened up about her struggles. She can be seen in the trailer

However, other moments showed her being treated at a hospital, breaking down in tears and running away from paparazzi.
“Let me make a promise — I’ll stop living like this,” she continued inside the vulnerable trailer. “How do I learn to breathe my own breath again?”
The former Disney star was diagnosed with lupus in 2014 – a disease that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks your own tissues and organs – and in 2017 it got so bad she had to undergo a kidney transplant.
She later revealed that she developed anxiety and had severe panic attacks as a result of the condition. She also struggled with depression and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2020.

During her decade-long career, she went to rehab more than once for professional treatment while also becoming one of the greatest artists in the world.

“If anyone saw what I saw, they wouldn’t have recognized her,” her friend Raquelle Stevens said in the trailer.
In part of the preview, the Only Murders in the Building star expressed concerns that she’s “not good enough” after a friend asked her what’s “holding her back”.
“It’s something I felt a lot as a kid,” she admitted.
In another part, she said: “All my life, since I was a kid, I’ve worked. I don’t want to be super famous, but I know that when I’m here I have to use it for good.

“I wasn’t able to keep a smile or make my thoughts seem normal. And it felt like all my pain and fear came crashing down on me at once, and it was one of the scariest moments of my life.
However, she added that asking for help forced her to confront her issues “head-on” with “some of the greatest doctors and specialists.”

“While that doesn’t mean it’s all gone, I can say that after a year of hard work, I’m happier, healthier, and in more control of my emotions and thoughts than I’ve ever been, so I’m very happy about that.”
