The “Lose You to Love Me” singer explained on her Instagram Stories on Monday evening (10/30/23) that she had to take a break from social media after the argument broke out earlier this month.

“I’ve taken a break from social media because my heart breaks to see how much horror, hatred, violence and terror is happening in the world,” she wrote. It is terrible when people are tortured and killed or when hatred is expressed against a group. We must protect ALL people, especially children, and end violence once and for all.”

The singer then revealed that she doesn’t think a message on social media can make a difference.

“I’m sorry if my words are never enough for everyone or a hashtag. I can’t stand by and watch innocent people get hurt. That’s what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a single message is not enough. “I love you, Selena,” she continued.

The Only Murders in the Building actress then posted a black and white photo of her half-sister Grace, 10, performing on stage, adding: “Having a sister, I was tragically ill every day. “I would do anything do for children and innocent lives.”

The star was criticized for her statement. Her followers insisted that she had the platform and the power to make a difference as she was the most followed woman on Instagram. Selena Gomez has 430 million subscribers.
