As an international celebrity, Selena often faces derogatory comments about her weight and physical appearance.
The star has always been candid about lupus and all that the disease has brought, both on social media and on her documentary My Mind and Me. Selena has been open about her weight to her fans.
The singer and actress explains her situation. “I tend to gain a lot of water retention, which is normal. Once I’m off the drug, I tend to lose weight,” she says of taking the drug.
Selena continues with a message of self-love to those who need to hear. “I just wanted to say and encourage anyone who is ashamed of what they are going through that no one knows the real story. I just want you to know that you are beautiful and wonderful.”
Without seeing things through rose-colored glasses, Selena follows. “Yes, there are days when you feel like shit. I prefer to be healthy, take care of myself, take my meds which are important and which I believe really help. So yeah, I’m not a model, never will be. I think she’s fabulous by the way, I just definitely am not.”
The entrepreneur behind Rare Beauty ends her life by thanking her subscribers for the support she receives every day and says she loves her understanding audience while sending an arrow to those who do the complete opposite. “If you don’t support me, walk away. Because honestly, I don’t believe in humiliating people because of their bodies or anything.”
The message is clear: Selena doesn’t let haters reach her.
