“I do things with my Rare Impact Fund. I have these conversations, I meet people,” she said. “I went to the White House for the mental health summit and … I want to be as proactive as possible.”
Selena visited the White House in May and met with US President Joe Biden, First Lady Jill Biden and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy.
While presenting her new documentary this week, she also pointed out that the film follows her travels from Africa to Europe.
“Everything I experienced in Kenya was really life changing and moving and it was really something I felt connected to,” she said.

“And then going to London and Paris was really complicated, having those feelings and being in such a vain industry.”
Selena Gomez: My Mind And Me was directed by Alek Keshishian, whose filmography includes the seminal 1991 documentary Madonna: Truth Or Dare.
Alek, who previously worked with Selena on her music video for 2015’s Hands To Myself, gushed that she’s “really blossomed” in the years since.
“She came from the pressure, I think, of wanting to prove herself in this transition from child star to young adult artist,” he said.
“And I think that transition came with a lot of pain. She’s obviously been through very dark times, but now when I see her she’s better than I’ve ever seen her.’

Selena’s new comments come after responding to online frenzy over last month’s pictures of her cuddling with Hailey Bieber at the Academy Museum Gala.
Hailey is married to Selena’s ex Justin Bieber, which has led some Selena fans to troll Hailey relentlessly over the past few years.
However, the two women revealed with their photos last month that they are on friendly terms with themselves, whatever their respective admirers may be thinking.
Now in a new interview with Vulture, Selena said the snaps were “not a big deal,” adding, “It’s not even a thing.”
‘No big deal’: Selena Gomez has responded to the online frenzy over last month’s pictures of her snuggling up with Hailey Bieber at the Academy Museum Gala
Photographer Tyrell Hampton, who took one of the pictures of Hailey and Selena at the gala, posted it to Instagram at the time and captioned it, “Plot twist.”
Hailey had previously hinted on the Call Her Daddy podcast that her equation with Selena was “all respect” — and during the same interview, she adamantly denied that Justin had cheated on Selena with her.
Selena and Justin were teenage sweethearts but had their last breakup in 2018, months before he was court-married to Hailey.
A month after Justin married Hailey, Selena reportedly suffered a breakdown related to her lupus and sought treatment for her mental health.

A day after news of Selena’s alleged breakdown broke, Justin was seen looking pained as he sat next to Hailey in his car.
Hailey has received backlash from die-hard Selena fans during her relationship with Justin, to whom she has now been married for over four years.
When Justin and Hailey attended the Americana-themed Met Gala together in September 2021, viewers chanted “Selena!” at them.
Hailey’s cousin Ireland claimed the couple was unfazed by the jeering Selena fans, writing on social media: “You are one of the happiest and most in love couples I have ever had the privilege to be with. They don’t care about her.’

In 2020, Justin shared a social media post from a Selena fan encouraging others to flood Hailey’s live stream with comments that “Jelena was better.”
“It’s extremely hard to take main street when I see people like this trying to rally to bully the person I love most in this world,” Justin wrote.
Hailey was so upset that she made a TikTok post this April, begging the trolls who “comment me on every post” to “please leave me alone.”
Possibly referring to how long Justin and Selena have been apart, she added, “Enough time has passed where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg you, truly.”
