The 23-year-old athlete therefore failed again in his attempt to break into the Ottawa club’s lineup. His name was placed on waivers. If he is not claimed by another organization in the National Hockey League (NHL), the Finn will still have to prove himself with the Belleville Senators in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Thomson made the jump to North America in the 2020-2021 season. Since then, he has played just 18 games in the NHL and collected five assists.

In three seasons and 135 games in the AHL, the right-handed guard found the net 18 times and provided 54 assists for 72 points.
