A sign of the Bloc Québécois candidate in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce-Westmount by-election in Montreal was vandalized and major stakeholders responded with much humour.
“Separatist cow” reads a campaign sign posted by Laurence Massey, who is representing the Bloc Québécois in the June 19 by-election.
The 25-year-old candidate responded with humor on Twitter.
“SEPARATIST COW: nm fm. Cattle species not to be underestimated recently seen on the streets of NDG-Westmount. Symptoms of national fever & chronic federal fatigue + more contagious than mad cow disease,” she wrote, posting a photo of herself under the sign in question.
“Seriously, let’s please respect each other,” she added.

Laurence Massey was already a candidate for the Bloc Québécois in Saint-Léonard-Saint-Michel in 2021. She is studying indigenous studies at university.
“I wanted to get involved in politics out of a desire for social commitment; I believe that politics is an instrument that must serve democracy. “Citizens must have a say in the affairs of the state, which must then govern according to the decisions of society,” she said when announcing her candidacy.
“Laurence represents exactly the kind of candidacy that breaks the myth that young people don’t care about politics and are abandoning the independence movement. she will wear […] the issues dear to the Bloc Québécois, in particular French and the secularism of the state, but also to achieve that necessary energy and environmental transition in which Quebec has everything to gain,” commented the leader of the party, Yves-François blanket .
