She added that she was at a loss for words about Olympia’s reaction to her loss and admitted she “wanted to cry”.

The star athlete, who shares the Olympics with her husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 39, admitted she used to be uncomfortable with her five-year-old attending their games.

“I was just afraid that I’d be distracted because I’d be like, ‘Wait, is she drinking? Does she?” Serena said.

“She came to a match one time, like super short, and I was like, ‘Oh my god, is she wearing sunscreen? “It’s crazy.”

She added that she often gets “stressed” when playing when Olympia is in the crowd.

Serena admitted she didn’t “really have them at games” until last summer when Olympia attended the US Open.

At the event, the professional tennis player won her first two matches before losing her third and final match on September 2 to Australian Ajla Tomljanovic.

The loss marked the end of Serena’s tennis career – a significant moment in the history of the sport.

Olympia couldn’t contain her excitement for her mother as she cheered her on from the stands.

“Come on mom, I’m so proud of you,” the five-year-old cheered.

Olympia seems to be following in her mother’s footsteps as she has been taking private tennis lessons since she was three years old.

Despite Olympia having one of the world’s top tennis players as a mother, Serena revealed that she herself has not coached her daughter.

The athlete admitted she refused to teach her five-year-old because she didn’t want to play with people who didn’t “play well”.

“I don’t really like playing with people who aren’t good at tennis. It drives me crazy,” she told Ellen DeGeneres in April 2022.

“So I thought I can’t. I don’t have the patience for that, so I signed her up for a class, a private tutor.”
