The former Novatek Vice President had an estimated net worth of around €400 million. Prime Minister Sanchez speaks about gender-based violence on Twitter

In the past, “he would have killed his wife Natalia and 18-year-old daughter with an ax while they were sleeping. Later he would have hanged himself in the garden.” According to Spanish TV channel Telecinco, this is the reconstruction of what happened to Russian tycoon Sergey Protosenya, who was found dead at his villa in Lloret de Mar on the Costa Brava on Tuesday. Next to the body of the man, vice president of the Russian natural gas giant Novatek for seven years and with an estimated fortune of around 400 million euros, the police found a knife and indeed an ax with traces of blood: the weapons he would have used to save the lives of the two taking family members.

As it turned out, the three are said to have traveled to Spain for Holy Week. Another son would have remained at the family’s habitual residence in France. The reasons for the gesture have yet to be clarified, but Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is already biased when he speaks of gender-based violence: “A man kills his wife and daughter in Girona – he wrote on Twitter – two lives taken a structural problem that we must eradicate”.

Also on Tuesday, a similar story traced back to another illustrious name in Russian society: former Gazprombank vice president Vladislav Avayev, found dead in his Moscow apartment next to the bodies of his wife Yelena, 47, and youngest daughter. Maria, 13. According to Russian police, the man was holding a firearm and all three bodies had gunshot wounds.
