Rumors about Matvei Michkov are so numerous these days that it is difficult to follow them.
More recently, for example, Michkov’s own agent in Russia, Sergei Fedotov, claimed that the Anaheim Ducks were seriously considering the talented second-place forward, information that has since been denied.
However, certain allegations against Michkov are more serious. During the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, Paul Bissonnette alludes to a rumor that he kicked one of his teammates.
Added his buddy Ryan Whitney.
“He doesn’t listen to anyone,” said the former NHL defenseman. Coaches and veterans were trying to say something to him and he was like, “Fuck off.” I got a text from a guy who’s been playing with him this year and he’s like, “This boy, I really wanted to give him a chance, but he sucks.”

The fact that Michkov apparently refused to meet with several National Hockey League teams before the draft also adds to his reputation as an enfant terrible. It is known that, according to his agent in Russia, the young man did not want to play in Arizona and even in Washington.
The Montreal Canadiens were able to meet him in person but preferred David Reinbacher in fifth place, much to the chagrin of fans who were salivating at the sight of this huge talent.
In seventh place, Michkov finally found a buyer chosen by Daniel Brière and the Philadelphia Flyers.
