50 claims for compensation were validated by the Vaccine Victim Assistance Program (PSVV) Medical Inquiry Commission out of 1,299 claims received between June 1, 2021 and December 1, according to program statistics.

Of the total applications, 1,066 were deemed eligible and have yet to go through the preliminary medical review phase, while 662 are in the process of collecting medical records. In addition, 48 files are awaiting evaluation by the Medical Review Board and 221 have been evaluated.

The goal of this program is to ensure that financial assistance is available to anyone who has been seriously or permanently injured after being injected with a Health Canada-approved vaccine in the country.

Keep in mind that Quebecers are not affected by this program as the province administers its own victim compensation program.

However, the statistics do not indicate what types of vaccines the requests were aimed at.

Regarding vaccination against COVID-19, 52,203 adverse events have been reported to the Public Health Agency of Canada as of November 11, 2022, representing 0.056% of the doses administered in the country.
