As Vingt55 reports, these residents of the Domaine du Vigneron on Rue du Sauvignon had the unpleasant surprise of discovering that their cellars were flooded. The cause ? A water backflow problem. In some cases, several inches of water entered their homes, leaving residents in disarray.
Le Vingt55 went to the scene and met about ten of them, all facing the same problem. “It is mainly the drains under the washing machine that get clogged in our houses,” explain some homeowners. Further up the street, some houses were even more severely affected. A resident had to call in a specialized cleaning team.
A resident told Vingt55 that her basement was flooded and that the damage was significant. “Several centimeters of water covered my basement and caused significant damage. “This is the first time something like this has happened to me,” she lamented. She has not yet received any information about the facts or the extent of the damage. “We are all in the same boat, which is also taking on water,” she added, saying she had called a team to clean up the damage.
To this day, residents are waiting for explanations. The City of Drummondville has not provided any information as the matter remains under investigation.
Contacted by Vingt55, the director of communications, Dominic Villeneuve, was asked about the causes and extent of the damage and said that no information would be disclosed for the time being. “Because we are under investigation, no information can be disclosed at this time,” said the Director of Communications for the City of Drummondville.
