At least four people were reportedly injured from lacerations after gunfire broke out aboard the Block Island Ferry between drivers being picked up from a popular beach bar.

The brawl began as the ferry was heading back to the Port Judith Ferry Terminal in Narragansett, Rhode Island, WJAR News reported. He left the area around 11:30 p.m.

At least a dozen police officers remained at the scene for several hours, Fox 3 confirms.

The total number of casualties is unknown, as is the severity of the injuries.

According to multiple outlets, one of the suspects was said to have been armed with a gun, but no law enforcement agency has confirmed this.

Rhode Island State Police, the U.S. Coast Guard station in Port Judith, and the Narragansett Police Department all responded at the ferry terminal.

has reached out to all three law enforcement agencies investigating the incident for comment.

A woman interviewed by WPRI12 claimed Block Island was packed Monday for the all-day reggae fest at Ballard’s Beach Resort — a popular destination for party tourists.

She went on to say the event was “body to body” and she thought she would be stuck on the island overnight as lines for the return trip to the mainland were full.

“Block Island never allow reggae fest again lmao,” one person who shared footage of police escorting three suspects off the ferry wrote on Twitter.

Emergency services and police dogs, believed to be with the Rhode Island State Police, were also at the ferry terminal, with the latter inspecting the ship.

The summer resort, a picturesque island some 9 miles from the mainland, is only accessible by ferry or plane.

Block Island is widely regarded as a popular summer vacation destination for Northeast residents.

The Rhode Island State Police told that they would issue a press release later today on the incident.
