Several people shot dead in shopping center in suburban Chicago: large police presence on site
A mass shooting was reported Friday night at a mall in Romeoville, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.
According to a press release from the local police department, two people have been transported to nearby hospitals so far. The statement did not say whether any suspect is in custody.
The condition of the victims was also not made public.
Outside of Scene 75, a family entertainment center next to a Walmart, there is an extremely large law enforcement presence on social media. Roads in the area have been closed while police continue their investigation.
People were advised to stay away from and avoid the area while police worked investigating the crime scene.
In a Facebook post at 9:45 p.m., the village of Romeoville said police were working to identify a suspect, noting the investigation was still at an “early stage.”
Scene 75 describes it as having “135,000 square feet of fun,” including go-karts and a roller coaster.
