Just days after series star Sarah Shahi spoke negatively about the amount of “support” she received while filming the show’s second season, Netflix has announced that it is canceling Sex/Life. The series, about a housewife torn between her current stability with her kind but boring husband (Mike Vogel) and her memories of a far more adventurous ex (Adam Demos), first aired in 2021 and second-aired ( and now last) series of episodes in March 2023.

Netflix plans to turn you into freeloaders who finally spit the dough out

The writing has been on the wall for Sex/Life for a minute now, largely because Shahi has already accepted a new job and is signing on for new ABC pilot Judgment (a project she’s apparently been speaking for for months at this point ). The former L Word and Person of Interest star recently opened up on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast and talked about how the second season of “Sex/Life” felt very different than the first of the show . “I definitely didn’t have the support that I did in the first season,” Shahi said. “I won’t bet [the show] down, but I definitely didn’t have the support that I had in season one from the people involved with the show.”

Shahi continued – apparently referring to male nudity on the show – that “in Season 2 I felt like there were more moments that felt very gimmicky. Things like that are always very difficult for me to read… But I didn’t have to do them. The guys did it.” She joked that she would never work for Netflix again after making the comments, adding, “There were other things that I just felt like I couldn’t figure out, and it was just a challenge. But that’s part of what I do! I will not always get along with one filmmaker or agree. I won’t always like what I have to do or say. But it’s my job to make it believable.”

Also starring in Sex/Life were Margaret Odette, Cleo Anthony and Darius Homayoung. The series was created by Stacy Rukeyser, who is expected to continue with a new project at Netflix.
