Sex Positions That Burn The Most Calories And The Best

Sex Positions That Burn The Most Calories (And The Best One Might Surprise You)

Have you ever wondered how many calories you can burn on a hot Valentine’s Day night?

Depending on your position, you may not need to worry about getting your 10,000 steps.

In fact, the most adventurous could burn over 200 calories.

In theory, that means a passionate night under the covers can be a better weight burner than a short run.

Even having sex in the spoon position for just 15 minutes could burn 51 calories, experts say.

Lovers can use an online calculator to estimate how much they will burn during sex.

It was founded by From Mars, which bills itself as an online health clinic for American men that sells Viagra, hair loss medication, and acne medication.

The calculator is surprisingly based on simple research from the online golf shop GolfSupport.com.

It saw 112 straight couples given Fitbits to find out how many calories they burn just by running around.

The survey, which doesn’t profess to be gold-standard science, asked couples to wear the gadgets in 12 different positions during sex.

The number of calories lost in each position during 30 minutes is the average of all men and women involved in the experiment.

At the top was the squat position for women (188 calories).

Although similar to cowgirl, it is slightly different as it involves raising your knees into a squat instead of putting your weight on them.

This position doesn’t burn quite as many calories in men (50).

The squat was followed by the energizing “Butterschnap” that burns 179 calories for women and a whopping 211 calories for men in half an hour.

However, the ‘churn’ is described as a position for ‘brave ones who try’.

The maneuver involves the woman lying on her back with her legs raised above and behind her head, while the man stands over the woman’s raised legs.

According to personal trainer Lee Mitchell, you might think of your Valentine’s Day sex as a workout.

He said: “Valentine’s Day sex is something more special than your everyday sexual encounters.

“Obviously, as a calorie-burning activity, there are many fitness workouts that easily beat a 30-minute snuggle under the covers.

“However, one must not ignore the fact that sex in various positions can and does burn more calories than one would expect.

“Sex also has the added benefits of improving your heart health, increasing your happy hormone (serotonin) levels, and improving your sleep.”

Several studies have looked at how many calories couples burn during sex without putting it in position.

According to a review of 18 studies published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior in 2022, heterosexual couples spend about 20 minutes in foreplay and sex and burn about 100 calories.

One of the 18 studies with just eight participants, seven of whom were men, found that sex burned an average of 130 calories.

Sex is considered “significant exercise” in a 2013 study published in Plos One that looked at the energy expenditure of young healthy adults during sex and compared it to running on a treadmill.

Researchers at the University of Quebec in Canada discovered that couples in their early 20s burn between 69 and 100 calories in their average session. That equates to 3.6 calories per minute.

That’s about the same energy expenditure as running on a treadmill for 10 minutes.
